You will be training from fully MCA licensed dive boats in the most beautiful and unique marine environment in the UK.
BSAC Boat Handling Course A two day course on powerboat handling specifically aimed at divers. AIM: To introduce boat handling skills to those who will be driving powerboats to and from dive sites and supervising other divers. DURATION: 2 Days PRE REQUISITES: None but a basic knowledge of diving would be useful. COURSE CONTENT:
The two days are largely practical with some short shorebased sessions. We have a maximum of three students per instructor and boat. You will spend time both driving and crewing. The course is taught using our MCA coded RIB and included in the course fee is the BSAC Boat Handling Course Pack and BSAC Certificate (there is an extra £10 charge for non BSAC members). BSAC Diver Cox'n A four and a half hour direct assessment for experienced power boaters - specifically aimed at divers. AIM: The aim of the Diver Cox’n assessment is to assess a candidate’s practical boat handling skills, and the underpinning knowledge related to the general handling of small boats and to diving specific boat handling activities. The CDA Diver Cox’n Certificate will be awarded to those who demonstrate competence in the handling and management of a small powerboat. DURATION: Half Day PRE REQUISITES:
ASSESSMENT CONTENT: The assessment comprises three sections: Voyage Planning, Practical Boat handling and Theory Knowledge. Failure of any part means failure of the whole.

BSAC Chartwork and Position Fixing - A two day intermediate powerboat course looking at practical navigation aboard a small powerboat. AIM: To instruct divers in the basic techniques of marine navigation to a level which will help them as active divers in planning and managing dives undertaken by a typical BSAC Branch. (The course comprehensively covers the requirements of Dive Leader lesson LT7 and is a training option for BSAC Advanced Diver). DURATION: Two Days PRE REQUISITES:
COURSE CONTENT: During this course you will plan and undertake two voyages, one by GPS and one by traditional navigation. Subjects covered include Charts and their interpretation, The Compass Rose, Position, Direction and Distance, Methods of Position Fixing, Tides and Weather, GPS Navigation, High Speed Navigation and practical application of.
